Frequently Asked Questions
How do I prepare my quilt for longarm quilting?
Ensure your quilt top is clean, pressed, and free of loose threads. Backing fabric should be squared and at least 4 inches larger on all sides than the quilt top. Click here to learn more.
Do you provide batting, or should I send my own?
You can send your own batting, or I can provide high-quality batting for an additional charge. Just let me know your preference!
What quilting designs do you offer?
I offer a wide range of options, including custom quilting, edge-to-edge designs, and heirloom-quality work. We’ll work together to find the perfect fit for your quilt.
How long does it take to complete a quilt?
Turnaround times vary based on the complexity of the quilting. I work on the quilts in the order they are received. With that being said, the custom quilts take considerably longer to complete. If you have a deadline you need your quilt completed by, please reach out to me directly and we can discuss.
Can you bind my quilt?
Yes! I offer machine-attached binding and hand-finished binding services. Pricing depends on the size of your quilt and the type of binding you choose. Check out binding options here.
Do you accept all types of quilts?
Absolutely! Whether it’s a small baby quilt or a large king-sized quilt, I’m happy to work on projects of all shapes and sizes.
How do I ship my quilt to you?
Fold your quilt top, backing, and batting neatly, place them in a plastic bag for protection, and ship them in a sturdy box. Be sure to include a note with your contact information and quilting preferences. click here for more information on shipping
What if I have a specific design request?
I love working on unique designs! Let’s chat about your vision, and I’ll do my best to make it a reality.
What payment methods do you accept?
I accept payments via , PayPal, Venmo, credit cards or debit cards.
Payment is due before the quilt is shipped back to you.
Can I reuqest a specific thread color?
Of course! I have a variety of thread colors available, and we can choose one that complements your quilt perfectly.
Can the front and back threads be different?
This depends… If there is a large contrast between the two thread colors, sometimes it may not always work out. This means that the top thread color could show “pokies” on the back side of the quilt. We can discuss further if this is something you are considering.
What type of backing can i use?
I recommend using cotton fabric for your quilt backs. I have also completed quilts with flannel or minky. A word of caution for the flannel. With flannel, I recommend prewashing, as flannel tends to shrink at a higher rate of the cotton fabric.
I'm local can I drop off my quilt?
Absolutely! I can also pick up and drop off at the local quilt guild meetings. Just call or send me a message and we can set up a time.
Why does longarm quilting require extra backing fabric?
On a longarm machine, additional fabric is needed around the edges for loading and holding to ensure that your backing is as flat as possible while quilting is in process. All extra fabric will be returned to you with your quilt.
A quilt backing must be square to load properly on the longarm quilting machine. If you need help with this, let us know. Don’t cut it if you’re not sure! We would be happy to help you determine what size or how much backing fabric to cut and provide.
